I hadn't thought of Kate Bush when coming across Taniyama's discography but after listening to this particular song, perhaps there is something there.J-Canuckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09551828383307840403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2501670448657416824.post-55816340793816144872024-02-13T21:06:37.434-05:002024-02-13T21:06:37.434-05:00I never heard of this lady until I searched "...I never heard of this lady until I searched "Japanese artists influenced by Kate Bush" and there's her name.YMOfan04https://www.blogger.com/profile/07223694426631132742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2501670448657416824.post-10448072501372488012020-10-27T19:35:55.189-04:002020-10-27T19:35:55.189-04:00Hello, Mike. I'm listening to the 1984 album version and it's dramatically different from the 1994 single. I'm surprised that it was Matsushita handling the album version since I would have thought that he took care of the more urban contemporary-sounding single version. I'll have to follow up on this soon enough. Thanks!J-Canuckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09551828383307840403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2501670448657416824.post-17788994405148379562020-10-27T19:11:00.123-04:002020-10-27T19:11:00.123-04:00"Yoru no buranko" is originally from 198..."Yoru no buranko" is originally from 1984, an album track from her Mizu no naka no Lion LP. The 1994 version was released as a dedicated 8cm CD. It's interesting to compare Nobuo Kurata's sax/guitar-laden arrangement on the single version to Makoto Matsushita's piano/strings-based arrangement on the album track. The latter is a tad more indicative of Hiroko Taniyama's usual sound, at least back in the 80s (I am not very familiar with the direction her sound went into the 90s and beyond).Mikehttp://marindiaproductions.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
