Masaaki Hirao -- Disco Train

Well, I figure if kayo kyoku composing legend Kyohei Tsutsumi(筒美京平)can have his disco period, why not someone like the former rockabilly singer and fellow legendary composer Masaaki Hirao(平尾昌晃). Disco was big at the time and didn't publicly suck quite yet.

So, Hirao came out with a 1976 album called "Disco Train" in which he tackles some original disco music while providing the disco touch to some well-worn kayo kyoku favourites. The title track is right here and it provides a good heaping of tribute to the theme song from the famous American music program "Soul Train". He definitely gives it his disco all with help from arranger Jun Fukamachi(深町純). I'm just curious about some of those other disco remakes of kayo kyoku on the album.

  1. I love disco, and this song is no exception! I applaud Hirao for his original disco and making disco versions of other songs! That Disco cover of SOUL'd OUT To All Tha Dreamers you posted a while was GREAT!
