Chisato Moritaka -- Bohtto Shite Miyou(ボーッとしてみよう)

With all of the craziness on the planet right now and even with the usual day-to-day sturm und drang of a regular work week, singer-songwriter Chisato Moritaka(森高千里)may have a solution: "Bohtto Shite Miyou" (Let's Try Zoning Out). Yup, this was a track that was written and composed by the Kumamoto native for her July 1996 album "TAIYO" as this relaxing yesteryear-ish pop-rock number encouraging listeners to stop and smell the coffee, roses or other soothing thing. Moritaka was on the drums for this recording.

I first heard the song though when it was included as a coupling song to Moritaka's single "Let's GO!" from February 1997. The arrangement is a little different under its title of "Sweet Baby Version"...even more laidback and bluesy. In both versions, the singer encourages folks to zone out until they get bored. Maybe it'll be a good long while before that happens.

  1. Hi, i don't know if you will gonna read this comment, but i really want to share this.
I've been a quiet Reader off your Blog for a few years now & i always enjoyed your content on Showa Idols!
In the past you also talked about Tomoko Ishizaka, who debuted in 1980 & retired in 1981.
It has now been confimed by her close friend Chiba Manami, that Tomoko has already passed away in 2024😔

    1. Thanks very much, Tobi, for your information. It is sad to hear that Ms. Ishizaka left us so early in life. I'll see about placing the notice on one of her articles on KKP.

    2. Your welcome!
I hope that, even tough she retired so early, she had a wonderful life❤️
I wonder, if she always thought, the they are still people outhere who love and talked about her music.
Her legacy will live on and hopefully Universal music japan will maybe release her music once again in the near future!
      Have a wonderful Day!
      Greetings
      Tobi

  2. This is a timely post as Chisato Moritaka is currently on tour! She had two concerts in September, four in October, five in November, and two in December. 「ボーッとしてみよう」is a bit different from what I usually imagine Chisato singing, so this song was a very pleasant surprise.
