Hi-Fi Set -- Moon Highway

(excerpt only)

"Moon Highway" is another song from Hi-Fi Set's 1990 album, "White Moon" that I remember well. Actually coming as the B-side to the trio's December 1989 single "Kon'ya Dake no Koibito"今夜だけの恋人....A Lover Just For Tonight), "Moon Highway" sounds like a melodic tribute to all that was Burt Bacharach in the 1960s that was composed by Hi-Fi Set member Toshihiko Yamamoto(山本俊彦)and written by Jun Taguchi(田口俊).

Taguchi's lyrics relate the fun of a night out in the city, zipping down that highway at warp speed with the melody kinda conveying that peppiness. I think at the time Japan was just on the cusp of having its economic bubble collapse, so the good times were still rolling on throughout the country at the time. Things have changed a lot since then, but even nearly 25 years later, Tokyo can still put on a good nightlife.

Another single from the album is "Angels Fly" which I've already profiled.
