Masami Kiyohara -- Chance yo Kon'ya（チャンスよ今夜）

I have to admit that I did a double-take at yaoiboi92's description of this particular song by Masami Kiyohara:

"Excellent light mellow city pop by Masami Kiyohara (清原正美) and students of Nihon Kogakuin College (日本工学院専門学校). Privately pressed, presumably as part of graduation." Good golly! College students were responsible for some really mellow City Pop?! Of course, a lot of famous bands and singers started their careers from their university days, but still I was quite impressed by something so polished into the 1980s urban contemporary style from a university club. Moreover, according to that second statement, it seems as if the album was either a very imaginative audio thesis or a present for the graduating class of 1983. I can only assume that the 1983 originating album of "Watashi no Slender ~ Shower of West Coast"（私のスレンダー・ウェストコーストシャワー...My Slender）must be one of the rarest of the rare if it had indeed been released just as an in-school project. Still, it would be nice to hear judging from the very pleasant track "Chance yo Kon'ya" (Chance Tonight!) by vocalist Kiyohara (a student there?). City Pop just launches from Note One along with that honey saxophone (that reminds me of the 1970s) and the Fender Rhodes. Despite the title for that one track, I think the song is perfect accompaniment for that Eggs Benedict brunch. From what I could find out about the college on J-Wiki, it's located in Ota Ward, Tokyo and was first established in 1947 and offers specialties in engineering, broadcasting, performing arts, etc. But on their homepage, Nihon Kogakuin College also stresses their animation programme as well. In addition, I also found out at Discogs that it had a hand in four other album productions in the 1980s.
