Satoshi Ikeda -- Omoidasanai Yoru wa nai darou(思い出さない夜はないだろう)

Nothing like some gut-wrenching scene of love coming apart at the seams to add to a J-drama.

This song was the theme for the 1994 NTV drama "Sono Uchi Kekkon Suru Kimi e"(そのうち結婚する君へ...To You Who Will Get Married Sooner or Later) starring Miwako Fujitani(藤谷美和子). There was also an insert song in the show which arguably garnered more attention, "Ai ga Umareta Hi"(愛が生まれた日)sung by a duet consisting of Fujitani and Yoshiaki Ohuchi(大内義昭).

However, the theme song "Omoidasanai Yoru wa nai darou" (There Will Be No Nights to Remember) by Satoshi Ikeda(池田聡)isn't too shabby either. The first several notes with the strings had me thinking that this was going to be some sort of Disney-esque fantasy tune, but then when Ikeda starts in, the song launches into something more appealingly 1990s City Pop with those same strings providing some nice class to the proceedings.

Composed by Ichiro Kaneda(金田一郎)and written by Yasushi Akimoto(秋元康), those lyrics rather describe that gut-wrenching scene of breaking hearts as it seems as if the fun romantic times are over for a couple, and one of the two doesn't want to let go. "Omoidasanai Yoru wa nai darou" was Ikeda's 20th single from February 1994. It may not have the happiest content but the music is right up my alley.
