Miki Obata -- Koi no Seaside(恋のシーサイド)

Perhaps we can steer away from the Xmas stuff for the rest of the evening and return to some conventional kayo.

In fact, maybe we'll try something summery. For instance, here is "Koi no Seaside" (Love Seaside) by Tokyo-born model/singer Miki Obata(小畑ミキ). And yeah, it's quite the nostalgic summery kayo since it was released back in June 1968. Another reason of course is the arrangement which includes that electric piano and a sax solo that I will call the Benny Hill sax. The music was provided by Ryuichi Tsuda(津田竜一)while the lyrics were written by Koichi Fujimoto(藤本好一).

Listening to Obata's cute delivery, I thought that the word aidoru would have popped up in her J-Wiki biography, but actually it didn't. Her singing career was quite brief, only lasting from April 1967 to November 1968, so "Koi no Seaside" was her 5th and penultimate single. It did stand out since Obata was one of the rare female singers of her time who actually wrote her own lyrics, and in fact, "Koi no Seaside" was the only single in which neither her A-side or B-side was written by her. She didn't release any albums.

Not exactly sure when she left show business but her retirement did come when she married a photographer. Apparently, she is now residing in the region of Nasu in Tochigi Prefecture.
