Plastics -- Delicious

I almost forgot that the 14th was White Day in Japan but in my own defense, it seems as if the Japanese media may have forgotten it too since they've been so enamored about the cherry blossoms opening up ahead of schedule. For those who may not be aware of the observed holiday, March 14th is seen as a second Valentine's Day of sorts in which the guys who got the chocolates and other goodies back in February reciprocate in kind a month later. Not quite certain about how many people really want to show their love through chocolate or whether it's more of the social obligation aspect...the so-called giri-choco(義理チョコ).

Anyways, the above doesn't really have anything to do with either Valentine's Day or White Day but it has the title "Delicious" and it's performed by the New Wave band Plastics which had their heyday in the late 70s going into the 80s. It's also been a while since I covered a song by Toshio Nakanishi(中西俊夫), Chika Sato(佐藤チカ)and the rest of the gang. A track on the band's debut album "Welcome Plastics" from January 1980, it's a characteristically quirky and perky performance with the lyrics seemingly consisting of a literal word salad with some "cameos" by Andy Warhol and Jerry Hall.

Since it's already the 15th in Japan, it's obviously too late to wish everyone there a Happy White Day, but I hope that folks enjoyed any reciprocation, food or otherwise.
