Yutaka Kimura Speaks ~ Japanese City Pop Masterpieces 100: Shigeru Suzuki (Tin Pan Alley) -- Sobakasu no Aru Shojo(ソバカスのある少女)

Number: 048

Lyricist: Takashi Matsumoto

Composer: Shigeru Suzuki

Arranger: Shigeru Suzuki

From Tin Pan Alley's 1975 album: "Caramel Mama"

"Sobakasu no Aru Shojo" (The Girl with the Freckles) is a signature masterpiece that really brings out Suzuki's(鈴木茂)melodious side, and I'm absolutely in love with this duet with Yoshitaka Minami(南佳孝). The ARP Odyssey that Suzuki himself uses to good effect adds an effective accent. In the world of Takashi Matsumoto(松本隆)which has songs including "Saraba Siberia Tetsudo"(さらばシベリア鉄道)and "Fjord no Shojo"(フィヨルドの少女...Fjord Girl), the impression has been that the woman's escape destination is "the northern towns", so it's reminiscent of a fleeting image of a young girl.

The above comes from "Disc Collection Japanese City Pop Revised" (2020).
