Out of curiosity, after having put up the cheerful "Wake Up" by singer-songwriter Kazuo Zaitsu(財津和夫) on my Wake-Up song list, I decided to see what else Zaitsu had done after flipping over the side of the single.
I kinda wondered whether the happy-go-lucky "Wake Up" from 1979 might be tempered with something more downbeat on its B-side. Well, I definitely wasn't wrong there. With a title of "Le Déclin" (The Decline), I couldn't really think of anything aside from something decidedly sadder, and sure enough Zaitsu created a depressing and somnambulant song that sounds like someone who can no longer be bothered to get out of bed ever since his bed got a whole lot more spacious after the departure of that special someone. Even the singer sounds like he's at the point of despair at times. Let's get back to the A-side!

This is interesting it is like his record album was a coin with heads and tails or happiness and sadness.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I kinda wondered whether this single would take opposing attitudes. I ended up guessing right.
