  1. For those who do not know the song『恋に落ちて』(Koi ni Ochite) in large part became famous nation wide because of the popular TBS drama 『金曜日の妻たちへ』(Kinyōbi no Tsumatachi e) which ran from 1983 to 1985. And, while this is probably the most famous song by Akiko Kobayashi this is far, far from being her only song. In other words this is not a one hit wonder!

    1. Hello, Brian. As an Akiko fan myself, I'm happy that you made that point. I don't really like using that term "one-hit wonder" because I know that certain singers have come up with perfectly wonderful songs that never made it into the Top 10 or even Top 20 of Oricon.

  2. Hey, J-Canuck! At least where I live it seems like the image people have of singers like Akiko Kobayashi and Saki Kubota is kind of frozen in time. Most do not seem to know that (Saki Kubota)Sayuri Kume continued career but in the Christian music genre from 1987 to 2017 (that's 30 years!), and Akiko Kobayashi released 7 albums, plus 8 special albums, and under the name Holi she released 2 albums. But, sadly most know only of the one major hit and think that these singers simply faded away.

    1. Hello, Brian. Kobayashi showed up on a recent "Uta Con", and to no one's surprise, she sang "Koi ni Ochite". As for the current Kume-san, I only found out about the name change and her circumstances from an NHK segment I saw years ago.
