J-Canuck's Canadian Tourist Destinations in Winter

Just for the record, the above YouTube video comes from the channel Going Awesome Places with Will Tang and he's showing off some of the wonderful things to do in Alberta's Banff and Lake Louise, a place that I got to visit all the way back in 1990.

I mentioned in a recent Xmas-based article on KKP that not all Canadians want to celebrate the Holidays in their own country. Perhaps it's something about the fact that walking daily in a winter wonderland with the temperature at a slightly cool -280 degrees and the winds coming in at a breezy Mach 2 might not be the most enjoyable environment. 🧊🥶

I know that folks do like to head down south for days, weeks and even months at a time but I wanted to sate my curiosity about where Canadians like to go during winter once and for all. And I was surprised to find out that at least some of my fellow countrymen do like to keep things within the Great White North while others do desire something more tropical. As such, possessing that whimsical nature which often powers my Author's Picks, I've come up with five destinations while providing the appropriate songs to accompany them.

(1967) Jackey Yoshikawa and His Blue Comets -- Blue Chateau(ブルー・シャトウ)

(1967) Yukio Hashi -- Koi no Mexican Rock (恋のメキシカン・ロック)

(1981) Akira Terao -- Habana Express

(1983) Hiromi Iwasaki -- Niagara

(1983) Seiko Matsuda -- Miami Gozen Go-ji (マイアミ午前5時)

  1. Ah, Canada is some where I would like to to visit again some day. When, I was way to young to remember my parents and I took a trip to Canada. Well, I will book mark this post and use it as a wish list the next time I get the money and the chance to visit Canada.

    1. Hello, Brian. Do you have any inkling about where you went in Canada? I've been to a majority of the provinces except for Manitoba and Newfoundland. Haven't visited any of the northern territories.

    2. I also heard about the big quake in Akita Prefecture just now. Are you guys OK in Aomori?

    3. Thanks for asking! A 7.5-magnitude earthquake off the east coast of Aomori Prefecture shook us pretty hard. Hachinohe City, where it was a little over 6 magnitude, suffered the most damage. Aomori City was about 5 magnitude, and our house rocked back and forth for 30 seconds, but so far I do not think it caused any damage other than fact that we weren't able to sleep for the rest of the night. So, thanks for asking and yeah we are doing well!

    1. Hello, YMOfan04. There are some very scenic areas in Canada...such as Alberta where the Rockies are located. In my neck of the woods, there's Niagara Falls. The lakefront of Toronto looks pretty nice, too. Traffic in my hometown is horrifying, to say the least, though.
