Makoto Saito -- NEED YOUR LOVE

The weekend is once again on its way and I'm happy to be looking forward to a bit of relaxation. Perhaps something a bit mellow can start things off here on "Kayo Kyoku Plus".

(excerpt only)

Did find this track from singer-songwriter Makoto Saito's(斎藤誠)2nd album "Be-Gray" from June 1984. "NEED YOUR LOVE" is indeed pretty mellow so I wouldn't be surprised if this were a middle track on Side A or the final track on Side B.

Written and composed by the singer, it's got quite the urban contemporary lullaby feeling and perhaps "NEED YOUR LOVE" would be ideal accompaniment for a smoke and a drink in a darkening apartment while the sun is setting into the horizon. The arrangement is fine but it's indeed Saito's vocals that highlight the ballad. Speaking of "Be-Gray", the album also contains the more dramatic "Aru Gray na Koi no Baai"(或るグレイな恋の場合).

  1. What can I say? Both tracks are AOR served up right. Another great post J.

    1. Thanks, Michael. I wouldn't mind getting "Be-Gray" but it's currently out of stock. There are some other albums of his out there, though.

  2. That tends to happen with most of the rarer gems from yesteryear. Keep waiting and waiting for a reissue which never materializes, so you have to scour the 'net to find an expensive original pressing.

What's most frustrating is that the labels could make most of their back catalogs readily available what with all the digital services and whatnot.

    1. I've got a feeling that the accounting departments of those labels have some input in that. Either that or they may still not be taking international interest in these albums all that seriously, but I could be wrong.
