Yutaka Kimura Speaks ~ Japanese City Pop Masterpieces 100: Sentimental City Romance -- Natsu no Hi no Omoide ~ Dancing Music (夏の日の想い出 ~ ダンシング・ミュージック)

Number: 062

Lyricist: Yui Hosono

Composer: Nobutaka Tsugei

Arranger: Sentimental City Romance

From SCR's 1977 album: "City Magic"

A signature tune from Sentimental City Romance(センチメンタル・シティ・ロマンス)in the 1970s with a good melody and harmony hinting at a whiff of manliness and dust storms, and feeling something more suburban than urban and more of a scene along the national highway than actually on it, "Natsu no Hi no Omoide" (Memories of a Summer Day) also comes with a splendid harmonica solo. Take in this wonderful special delivery by the band as something everlasting that can also be found in Mariya Takeuchi's(竹内まりや)"Synchronicity" 30 years later.

The above comes from "Disc Collection Japanese City Pop Revised" (2020).

  1. Sentimental City Romance! Not, only do they have harmony they seem to play a lot of different instruments, too.

    1. Yeah, haven't seen the likes of them in any contemporary band in many years. They are one of a kind.
