J-Canuck's Favourite Dreams Come True Songs

The other day, NHK News devoted several minutes to the long-popular band Dreams Come True on occasion of their 35 years in show business, and I figured that since I hadn't posted any Author's Picks regarding the Hokkaido-based group, the time was here. Plus, the works of Miwa Yoshida(吉田美和), Masato Nakamura(中村正人)and Takahiro Nishikawa(西川隆宏)were examples to me at least that the baton was passed from kayo kyoku to J-Pop.

(1989) Ureshihazukashi Asagaeri (うれしはずかし朝帰り)

(1989) Ureshii! Tanoshii! Daisuki! (うれしい!たのしい!大好き!)

(1992) Kessen wa Kin'youbi (決戦は金曜日)

(1996) Shichi-gatsu, Nanoka, Hare (7月7日、晴れ)

(1993) go for it!

  1. Another great group from Hokkaido! I think they started in 1989 so I think are Heisei band, but maybe they did something durning the last few days of the Showa period, too.

    1. Hello, Brian. Basically, I'd say that they were a Heisei band although they officially formed in 1988. However, their debut single and album were released in early 1989.

    2. That makes sense! And hey thanks for the extra info! I did not know they formed in 1988!

  2. I haven't thought about DCT for a long time and was curious to check if Nishikawa ever rejoined. Turns out no according to Wikipedia..and he left in 2002?! It was THAT early? Wow. I like your picks. Maybe obvious but Winter Song is still my fave.

    1. Thanks very much. "Winter Song" is a fine Xmas ballad. As for Nishikawa, I'd read that his old bandmate Nakamura supported his return but Yoshida was rather non-committal.
