Rev. from DVL -- LOVE-arigatou-

The current NHK morning serial drama is "Omusubi"(おむすび)which I described a little bit about when I posted its theme song "Illumination" by pop/rock duo B'z a couple of months ago. The heroine, Yui Yoneda, is played by actress Kanna Hashimoto(橋本環奈)whose fame is certainly growing in my household since my parents have been watching the series, and she now has two consecutive co-hosting stints for the annual Kohaku Utagassen under her belt. She looked pretty smooth in last month's edition.

What I hadn't known until recently though is that Hashimoto was once a popular member of an aidoru group called Rev. from DVL. The name is a tad awkward to my eyes and ears but it was derived from the fact that its precursor incarnation was DVL (standing for "dance", "vocal" and "love") which was a Fukuoka-based co-ed song-and-dance group that started up in 2003. However in 2011, it was decided that a major revamp was in order and the new incarnation would be a female aidoru conglomeration with the additional "Rev." standing for "revolution". Hashimoto had entered DVL in 2009.

Their first official single under Rev. from DVL was "LOVE-arigatou-" from April 2014. Indeed, it's a very happy-go-lucky tune about not only happiness between a couple in love but the same feeling going around the world. There are also some nice harmonies among the members and the indies pop unit RiZ responsible for words and music really wanted to throw in a few other genres: jazz, funk and rock. I'm sure the ladies in Rev. from DVL were put through their paces in the recording booth. The song reached No. 6 on Oricon. As for the group itself, it finally called it a day in 2017.
