The 72nd NHK Kohaku Utagassen Lineup

That rather huge building off in the distance? Well, that's the Tokyo International Forum, otherwise known as this year's site for the annual NHK Kohaku Utagassen (Red-and-White Song Festival) held every New Year's Eve. The TIF will be holding the big event this year since the traditional NHK Hall venue is undergoing some major renovations (but it should be ready for the end of 2022). I've walked through there a few times and it's a bit of a TARDIS in that the various halls inside the complex actually appear larger than what it might even seem on the outside.

I did a copy/paste of the list from the Wikipedia article on the show. Also feel free to take a look at it right here.

Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing all of the acts and how they do at TIF especially as mentioned in the Wikipedia article, there will be some tweaks to the format. I'm also going to be interested in seeing newcomers such as Awesome City Club and Bish...plus, I've never heard of Mafumafu. Of course, it'll be great to hear from Masayuki Suzuki, Misia and Junretsu once again.

  1. I'm a fan of NiziU, so I'm looking forward to their performances. Also, it's great to see the legendary Seiko Matsuda there(25th appearance!).

    1. Hello, good to hear from you. I should have asked who everyone else wanted to hear. Yup, Seiko-chan is back along with Hiroko Yakushimaru.
