I've been a fan of Japanese popular music for 40 years, and have managed to collect a lot of material during that time. So I decided I wanted to talk about Showa Era music with like-minded fans. My particular era is the 70s and 80s (thus the "kayo kyoku"). The plus part includes a number of songs and artists from the last 30 years and also the early kayo. So, let's talk about New Music, aidoru, City Pop and enka.

Just for Fun...The J-C AI Gallery -- QYPTHONE, Yujiro & Seiko
This was a fun post! Seiko Matsuda's "Pineapple Island" was a bit surprising. It is cute and super idol-like, and of course, she was the queen of idols of the 1980s (I know most people call her the eternal idol). However, I am not sure I have heard her sing anything like this before.
Listening to "Pineapple Island", indeed, it is a quirky yet very Seiko tune with that combination of 50s girl pop and technopop, especially including that measured but relentless shuffle in the chorus.
