A couple of months ago, I profiled "Believin'", a song by Naniwa Express, the Kansai region's answer to Kanto-based fusion bands Casiopea and The Square. Well, this time, I'm bringing another tune by them, "Jasmin". Just like "Believin'" which was the lead track on the group's 1982 album "No Fuse", "Jasmin" also occupies the first spot on their 1983 album "Wind Up".
My usual feeling of jasmine is that it's pretty calm and refreshing. But "Jasmin" here is once again another busy funk fest by Naniwa Express. I could get all the genres of AOR, rock and jazz in there as Kou Shimizu(清水興)hits the bass hard and guitarist Kazuhiko Iwami(岩見和彦)flies away. "Jasmin" is really jammin' (I'll see myself out).
Jasmine is refreshing, but it isn't really relaxing it seems rather busy maybe in a mild way, but a lot is going on and it feels as if something is about to start.
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think Naniwa Express' "Jasmin" is relaxing either. It's more stimulating than anything else.
