Yutaka Kimura Speaks ~ Japanese City Pop Masterpieces 100: Kunio Muramatsu -- Rainy Day

Number: 096

Lyricist: Kunio Muramatsu

Composer: Kunio Muramatsu

Arranger: Kunio Muramatsu

From Muramatsu's 1985 album "Roman"

"Rainy Day" was supposed to have been offered to Tatsuhiko Yamamoto(山本達彦)but the deal fell through there. With a sound that weaves together 1960s soft rock and a smidgen of cool 1980s electropop somewhat reminiscent of The Cretones, it gives a comfortable contrast and actually comes across as quite deep. By the way, maybe it's just me but don't you think that ex-Sugar Babe male band members come up with a lot of rainy songs (in a good way)?

The above comes from "Disc Collection Japanese City Pop Revised" (2020).
