EPO -- Park Ave. 1981

"Park Ave. 1981" was EPO's 2nd single, released in November 1981. Despite the release month, I think it has that summery mood in mind, perfect for the car.

Written by EPO and Toyohisa Araki(荒木とよひさ), and composed by EPO, the lyrics paint a picture of a young lady skipping happily through a sunny day in the city (perhaps stopping off at a few boutiques), knowing that she just has to go past the titular Park Avenue to be able to meet her beau. I'm not sure if she was ever referring to the famous Park Avenue in New York City or Koen Dori (directly translated from Park Ave. into Japanese) in the Shibuya district of Tokyo. In any case, this is a classic EPO song with the cheerful melody and the harmony. Whereas her debut single of "Downtown" reflected fun in the metropolis at around dusk or night, "Park Ave. 1981" was definitely broad daylight. That chorus work also reminds me of some of the early aidoru tunes by Seiko Matsuda(松田聖子).
