Akiko Kobayashi -- Shinjitsu (真実)

Akiko Kobayashi's(小林明子) 2nd single, "Shinjitsu"(Truth) didn't seem to make as much of an impact as her debut of "Fall In Love" did, but this song from February 1986 is still a favourite amongst her fans including myself. And I once heard it on an audiotape of one of her concerts, and it sounds like a fine tune to finish the evening on.

Composed by Kobayashi herself and written by Takashi Matsumoto(松本隆), "Shinjitsu"is a light happy song about a woman who is just chomping at the bit to take that night train to meet her lover. Unlike the slight sense of trepidation that's infused in the lyrics and music of Akina Nakamori's(中森明菜) "Kita Wing"北ウィング), a song that seems to share a similar lyrical theme with that of Kobayashi's tune, there is no doubt in "Shinjitsu". The woman here wants to go NOW! The song just sounds like the musical equivalent of that woman hurriedly packing her suitcase and then grabbing and hugging a picture of her beau.

The performance below seems to be from "Music Fair". "Shinjitsu" would also become a track on Kobayashi's 2nd album, "Kokoro no Mama ni"心のままに), released in the same year in September.
