The Candies -- Toshishita no Otokonoko (年下の男の子)

The 5th single by aidoru group The Candies, "Toshishita no Otokonoko"A Younger Boy) had a couple of interesting points: 1) it was the group's first Top 10 single, peaking at No. 9, and 2) it was the first time that Ran Ito(伊藤蘭)took the centre position as lead vocal. Before then, Yoshiko "Sue"Tanaka(田中好子) was the lead, but with the big success of the song, the switch was made permanent. Not sure if there were any diva-like confrontations in the dressing room, though.

"Toshishita no Otokonoko" ended up as the 42nd-ranked song of 1975 and earned The Candies their first appearance on the Kohaku. It was written by Kazuya Senke(千家和也)and composed by Yusuke Hoguchi(穂口雄右), and the record sold approximately 260,000 copies.

  1. Here they are performing the song in the 1975 Kohaku. The red mascot has trouble keeping her head on near the end, but she's adorable.

    1. Hi there. Thanks for the Kohaku version of the song. I would guess that anyone with the name of Hiromi Iwasaki would look adorable even in an animal costume. :)
