Toshiki Kadomatsu -- Wave

The above is a shot from port aft (or is it aft port?) on The Harmony of the Seas which was at that time, the largest cruise ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet. I believe that it's been superseded by The Symphony of the Seas, but still the Harmony was plenty big enough for me.

I'd say that the sunset shot at port aft is fully deserving of an appropriate song, and so I will go with singer-songwriter Toshiki Kadomatsu's(角松敏生)"Wave" from his June 1981 debut album "Sea Breeze". Considering its very mellow nature, I'm not surprised that it was the final track and of course, there just have to be the lapping waves on the shore. I think even from his first LP, Kadomatsu already had his own formula for a ballad all sewn up from listening to "Wave".

Looks like the entire album was chock-filled with genre stars helping out. Tsugutoshi Goto(後藤次利)was on bass, Jun Sato and Akira Inoue(佐藤準・井上鑑)were on the synths, Shigeru Suzuki and Masaki Matsubara(鈴木茂・松原正樹)were on guitars, Jake H. Concepcion was on his trusty sax, and EPO, Makoto Matsushita(松下誠)and Tatsushi Umegaki(梅垣達志)were the backup vocals, and all those people were not the only ones. Just surprised that Kadomatsu's inaugural album apparently didn't make a dent in Oricon at all, but perhaps the new and even veteran J-AOR fans have seen and stepped into the light since then.
