Momoe Yamaguchi -- Yume Saki Annainin (夢先案内人)
Yosui Inoue -- Isso Serenade (いっそセレナーデ)
Mina Aoe -- Shinjuku Saturday Night (新宿サタデー・ナイト)
I've been a fan of Japanese popular music for 40 years, and have managed to collect a lot of material during that time. So I decided I wanted to talk about Showa Era music with like-minded fans. My particular era is the 70s and 80s (thus the "kayo kyoku"). The plus part includes a number of songs and artists from the last 30 years and also the early kayo. So, let's talk about New Music, aidoru, City Pop and enka.
Momoe Yamaguchi -- Yume Saki Annainin (夢先案内人)
Yosui Inoue -- Isso Serenade (いっそセレナーデ)
Mina Aoe -- Shinjuku Saturday Night (新宿サタデー・ナイト)
When I first happened upon this blog post, I was sure, like more than sure, that I had never heard of any of these songs, but as it turns out, I have heard them. For example I somehow had not realised that 夢先案内人 was by Momoe Yamaguchi!
ReplyDeleteHi, Brian. "Yume Saki Annainin" was the second Momoe song that I had heard on "Sounds of Japan" following the bittersweet "Ii Hi Tabidachi". But I had come across "Imitation Gold" through ancient VCR tape a few years previously.
DeleteI am big fan of "Ii Hi Tabidachi" and I am rather fond of プ"レイバック Part2", too but I had not heard of "imitation Gold" till now. I found two live video of Momoe singing it though. I wasn't aware that she had a few different hair styles! Short, long, curly long, long wavy and a number of other styles too.
DeleteI've usually put "Playback Part 2", "Imitation Gold" and Rock n' Roll Widow" as the triumvirate of Yoko Aki/Ryudo Uzaki hits for Momoe during her "world-weary woman" phase in the late 1970s.
