Over here on this side of the Pacific Ocean, it's Pi Day so folks are either solving math challenges or noshing on luscious pies. I'll be doing neither since I was never good at math and I already engorged myself on a slice of cheesecake for dessert last night. In Japan, it's March 14th (or it was March 14th) which means White Day where the guys have to get the chocolates for the girls. However, especially figuring that today is a Friday, perhaps the couples and groups are whooping it up a bit more downtown.
Last night, a commenter reminded me of Travis Japan, the boy group from Starto Entertainment, and told me about their latest. A year ago, I was given a tip regarding this seven-strong unit and I posted about their "Till the Dawn" which has some City Pop elements dancing about in their aidoru arrangement.
Well, Travis Japan had been releasing digital downloads since 2022 but "Tokyo Crazy Night" is their first CD release which got out a little over a week ago. Actually, I should correct myself because the official single is called "Say I Do/Tokyo Crazy Night" as it is being treated as a double-A-side. Written and composed by Yuuki, Hayato Yamamoto and Jun, it's got the fast-beat aidoru energy with those thrumming synthesizers emitting those urban vibes. Anything for a good night out on the town. The single has hit the top of the charts.
