Some of J-Canuck's Funkalicious Favourite Anison

Didn't quite believe that I hadn't ever put up such an Author's Pick before. I've probably got some sort of Favourite Anison list out there but just haven't come across it in some time. However, such as it is, I did want to get a list up there showing how some of these anime themes can get under my skin to have me bust a move...or a hip because they are so funky and catchy.

(1995) Miyuki Kajitani -- "Rashiku" Ikimasho (”らしく”いきましょ)

(2009) Momoko Hayashi -- You make me happy!

(2013) Yasuyuki Okamura -- Viva Namida (ビバナミダ)

(2014) KMM Dan -- Witch Activity (ウィッチ☆アクティビティ)

(2016) Natsumi Hioka & Hiroki Yasumoto -- Kumamiko Dancing

(2019) Masayuki Suzuki feat. Rikka Ihara -- Love Dramatic(ラブ・ドラマティック)

  1. I remember Momoko Hayashi's "You make me happy!" very well because my daughter was into to Pretty Cure at the time and now she is part way through her first year in University. She also liked the new version Sailor Moon, too. However, she also watched the first season of the older version. By the way have you listened to any of Japanese DJ Teddy Loid's music from "Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider /東島丹三郎は仮面ライダーになりたい" ?

    1. Morning, Brian. I never caught "Sailor Moon Crystal" but I did watch most of the original seasons on TV Asahi. It was always the humour that pulled me into the series.
No, I haven't seen "Tojima"; from what I've caught on YouTube, it's an anime version of "Kamen Rider".

    2. It is based on a manga about a 40-year-old guy who has always wanted to be like the fictional Kamen Rider he watched on TV, but when he turned 40, he finally gave up on his dream. Then some gang pretending to be shocker shows up at a matsuri causing trouble, and he buys a plastic Kamen Rider mask and fights them. Later, he meets other people who also dreamed of being Kamen Rider, and then the real-life shocker gang appears, but there are no real-life Kamen Riders; only people/otaku who know martial arts who are pretending to be Kamen Riders and living out their fantasy fighting against the real-life supernatural or scientific modified people calling themselves shocker. Anyway, the sound track by DJ Teddy Loid is GREAT!

    3. Wow! It sounds like a meta-version of the franchise. I recall Hollywood did something similar with the old sitcom "Bewitched" many years ago. I hope "Tojima" was more successful.
