West Shinjuku at Sunset

Monday November 6. This shot of the skyscrapers of West Shinjuku doesn't emulate the exact picture of the JAL poster that I had fallen in love with but that building on the right for SOMPO Holdings is the gently sloping structure that I've known for years and was in that photo.

It was quite cool and windy that day walking around in the neighbourhood of hotels and office towers...almost downright Torontonian!

My perennial theme song for a walk in West Shinjuku? Of course, it's "Downtown" by EPO!

  1. Hi J-C: I'm back in the states now, but was staying in Shinjuku the last 6 days (JR Blossom hotel). Walked all over Shinjuku, Shibuya, out to Hibiya Park. Picked up about 40 EPs at Disk Union(s) and HMV - and one of them was "Downtown" by EPO (along with Keiko Fuji, of course) ;) Already missing okonomiyaki. As for the 2 weeks, all I can say is "I'm coming back" - have a great trip!

    1. Hi, T-cat!

Just got back from Japan last night so I'm recovering from jet lag and getting re-accustomed to colder weather. Did my own CD hunting with another Torontonian last week through the Jimbocho and Shibuya areas and we did find some rare gems.

I hope to make another trip but that will depend on how much I earn over the next few years.

  2. Welcome back J-C: I actually had very little jet lag; probably due to the lovely JAL flight. Look forward to hearing what and where you got - since I don't read the language, it's tough looking for CDs as they mostly store edge-on. EPs have picture sleeves, so thumbing through racks of thousands is a great way to spend a day. And I did a bit of aidoru Seichi Junrei :)
