Ikuhiro Oda -- Save Up Your Love

They say that the Bubble economy for Japan burst around 1990 or 1991, and with that, the assumed love for City Pop did the same as well. If that is the case, then apparently someone forgot to tell singer-songwriter Ikuhiro Oda(小田育宏).

Oda hails from Kobe and he made his debut in 1992 with four singles and two albums being released up to the end of 1993, and that's all she wrote. At this point, I don't know anything more about him and his fate in the music industry.

From his first album in May 1992, "Talk To You", I give you "Save Up Your Love" which absolutely screams City Pop and J-AOR. It sounds like something that was created a decade or more earlier and as I mentioned up above, it feels like the Bubble economy had yet to inflate. The free-flowing champagne and the caviar slathered on crackers were still being handed out en masse to the couple in this song who are simply enjoying being on the beach together. Oda took care of words and music, and there was a co-lyricist whose name I'm having trouble reading here:「羽真部」. I'm taking a guess with help from "Jisho.org"; it might be Manabu Hane. But let's not have one logistical issue ruin some nice summery City Pop.
