The final full week before everyone enters the Holidays, I thought that this particular song, even though it hadn't been meant for the Christmas season, could fit into it due to its hopeful and orchestral arrangement.
"Gloria" from the 1996 soundtrack for the anime "Tenkuu no Escaflowne"(天空のエスカフローネ...The Vision of Escaflowne)is a piece that I have heard a few times during anison hour at my buddy's place, and though it starts out rather tensely (as one YouTube commenter put it...as if the world was about to end), at about the 3:20 point, there is this feeling of hope and happiness being reborn, thanks to those horns and oboes. And that chorus and the strings just brings all the hairs up on end...perhaps a bit more moisture in the eyes as well. The sun is finally coming out of the clouds now.
Cellist and composer Hajime Mizoguchi(溝口肇), along with Yoko Kanno(菅野よう子), put together the soundtrack, and he was the one behind the glorious "Gloria". Maybe it's the thing to play early on Xmas morning.
There is no doubt, this song touch my soul like no other.
