The Band Boom was talked about a lot in the late 1980s, but it looks like 1994 was a big one for bands as well. Pop/rock units that proliferated in the early 90s were well-represented by groups like Zard and Deen, but Dreams Come True came out on top....that time in the last few years of the 20th-century were their banner years. However, trf's two albums in the Top 10 were a herald of where J-Pop was going to go for the next several years as Tetsuya Komuro brought in a whole bunch of acts centering around a new wave of technopop dance music. On the other hand, a couple of veterans were in the mix as well with Mariya and Yuming.
It was truly a profitable year since the top 8 entries all sold well north of 1 million albums.
