Miki Matsubara -- Jazzy Night

Well, it's been a while, Ms. Matsubara...welcome back to the show.

In all honesty, Miki Matsubara's(松原みき)"Jazzy Night" is not one of my favourite songs by the late singer-songwriter just because she doesn't have her vocals quite under control. It just kinda seems as if the tune was getting a little too ahead of her at points.

Still, I can't deny the dynamic urban sound from composer Tetsuji Hayashi(林哲司). It's one high point that has me thinking about Tokyo from the time of release of Matsubara's 7th single, December 1981. Yeah, 36 years ago...man, a lot of water under the bridge. Prolific lyricist Yoshiko Miura(三浦徳子)came up with the words. It's not jazz by any means but some tasty City Pop for the end of the year.
