"Angelic" is an April 2002 maxi-single by SPANK HAPPY that I covered through two of its three tracks, the title track and "Haikei, Miss International"(拝啓ミス・インターナショナル). Well, since I've gone over 66.6% of it, why not finish the remaining 33.3%?
Therefore, it's time to look at "Ennui Electrique" which was created by leader Naruyoshi Kikuchi(菊地成孔)with both him and co-vocalist Hitomi Iwasawa(岩澤瞳)getting in on the action. Starting with a thumpy bass and what sounds like a really hectic bicycle horn, it sounds like the titular ennui electrique stands for the routine debauchery that a lady goes through when she's out and about on the town. It's quite the soundtrack for a Friday night.
Looks like you’ve crunched the sacred SPANK HAPPY math and realized you can’t just stop at a spiritually ominous 66.6%. Completing the remaining 33.3% feels less like a choice and more like a cosmic obligation—Kikuchi himself would probably nod approvingly.
ReplyDelete“Ennui Electrique” really is the perfect capstone: a track that opens with bass you feel in your spine and a bicycle horn that sounds like it’s fighting for its life, all while painting a portrait of glamorous malaise and nightly mischief. If ennui had a nightlife, this would be its anthem—equal parts chic, chaotic, and faintly unhinged. This is like the ideal soundtrack for a Friday night where you’re not sure if you’re going out, staying in, or simply vibing in the electric haze between the two.
