A lovely little romantic tune that should be making the rounds at the wedding parties in Japan, "Futari nara"(If It's The Two of Us) is a track on Koji Tamaki's(玉置浩二) 4th solo album, "Love Song Blue", which was released in December 1994 and peaked at No. 18. The version on the album is an uptempo triumphant declaration, but the video here has Tamaki singing it as a quiet ballad in concert. No problem with the stylistic change, though. His delivery can still bring shivers down my spine. It was written and composed by Tamaki with Ko Tanaka(田中コウ)co-writing the lyrics.
I've been a fan of Japanese popular music for 40 years, and have managed to collect a lot of material during that time. So I decided I wanted to talk about Showa Era music with like-minded fans. My particular era is the 70s and 80s (thus the "kayo kyoku"). The plus part includes a number of songs and artists from the last 30 years and also the early kayo. So, let's talk about New Music, aidoru, City Pop and enka.
