However, I first heard Yagami's "Cotton Snow and Paper Stars"(綿雪&銀紙星) (lyrics by Keisuke Yamakawa/山川啓介 and music by Yagami) on one of her BEST albums. The arrangements has it sounding like an Xmas tune in the big city and Yagami does her usual fine job with the singing, although I think that synth-like organ at the beginning sounds a bit on the cheesy side and the melody suddenly revs up briefly and jarringly in certain parts.
I've been a fan of Japanese popular music for 40 years, and have managed to collect a lot of material during that time. So I decided I wanted to talk about Showa Era music with like-minded fans. My particular era is the 70s and 80s (thus the "kayo kyoku"). The plus part includes a number of songs and artists from the last 30 years and also the early kayo. So, let's talk about New Music, aidoru, City Pop and enka.
