Hello, everyone. Another year is coming to a close...which means that "Kayo Kyoku Plus" is fast approaching another anniversary. As of January 31st 2015, we'll be hitting our 3rd birthday!
I'd like to take this time to welcome Lawrence Chan who is currently in the San Francisco area to "Kayo Kyoku Plus" as a contributor. As has been the case with all of the other fine contributors to the blog, Larry was commenting on some of the articles and I wanted to get some further insights from him via his own articles. In fact, he has already submitted one for a Chisato Moritaka song and I'm looking forward to reading any future articles.
Also, Larry has his own blog on Japanese music which you can take a look at here.
With the end of the year coming up, I figure there might be some Author's Picks in the works over the next couple of weeks...I'm currently thinking of a couple to put in before December 31st.
Take care!
I've been a fan of Japanese popular music for 40 years, and have managed to collect a lot of material during that time. So I decided I wanted to talk about Showa Era music with like-minded fans. My particular era is the 70s and 80s (thus the "kayo kyoku"). The plus part includes a number of songs and artists from the last 30 years and also the early kayo. So, let's talk about New Music, aidoru, City Pop and enka.
Credits
I would like to give credit where credit is due. Videos are from YouTube and other sources such as NicoNico while Oricon rankings and other information are translated from the Japanese Wikipedia unless noted.
