This is what I could call the quintessential Japanese love ballad of the early 1990s. A track from Mitsuko Komuro's(小室みつ子)5th album "Say You Want Me" (October 1990), "Next Time I Fall In Love", which was written and composed by Komuro, has that certain keyboard arrangement and mellowness baked in.
With some assist from TM Network vocalist Takashi Utsunomiya(宇都宮隆), Komuro quietly lays out a defiant retort to the cad who dumped her that she'll be back better than ever with a new and more decent guy, and will be more than happy to rub his nose in it if their eyes should ever meet again. A dagger stab wrapped in velvet.
