A while back, I got to know the Osaka band Neighbors Complain via their 2017 song, "Night Drivin'", and to remind folks, vocalist Oto and the gang got their name from the result of busking too loudly wherever they were in their early days.
From "Night Drivin'", I already did get a good impression of Neighbors Complain being a fine ol' R&B band but from the description underneath this YouTube video, I did get a good grounding on the music and performers that have inspired them. As channel Space Shower Music has written it, Neighbors Complain have gotten their groove from New Classic Soul, Black Contemporary, NJS, and Rare Groove thanks to acts including Pharrell Williams, Bruno Mars, Mayer Hawthorne and TUXEDO. Hey, any friend of Williams and Mars especially...
Ah, the song here. It's "LST/D" and I have no idea about the origins of this title, but as Oto, who provided the lyrics, puts it, it's all about dancing and romancing on the floor. Yup, I'm getting that Mars vibe along with some of those 1970s soul singers and groups. As for the music video, I almost felt like putting a quarter into the non-existent slot to play that ancient video game; not sure whether the band members actually dance that well. "LST/D" is the first track on their 2019 album "Bridge". Mighty nice cover on that album, too.
