Usually I go straight to the list here but just to explain, I'm feeling rather exhausted this evening since my inadequate amount of sleep became even a little bit shorter this week which is why I'm finishing my three for Thursday with an Oricon Top 10. However, I also feel like giving out belated April Fool's headlines since I missed my chance yesterday.
"Momoe Yamaguchi to release her 1st single in 46 years!"
"Tatsuro Yamashita and Mariya Takeuchi in negotiations to host 2026 edition of Kohaku Utagassen!"
"Hiroshi Itsuki goes punk rock! Gets a Mohawk cut!"
Anyways, on to the list (and good night)!
1. Daniel Boone Beautiful Sunday
2. Masato Shimon Oyoge! Taiyaki-kun
3. Hiromi Ohta Momen no Handkerchief
4. Momoe Yamaguchi Ai ni Hashitte
5. Candies Haru Ichiban
6. Hideki Saijo Kimi yo Dakarete Atsuku Nare
7. Iruka Nagori Yuki
8. Seiji Tanaka O Marijana
9. Masatoshi Nakamura Ore-tachi no Tabi
10. Junko Sakurada Nakanai wa
I can see or rather hear why Daniel Boone "Beautiful Sunday" is number one on this list, it is such a happy feel good song! BUT I think the following are just as great Momen no Handkerchief, Haru Ichiban, Nagori Yuki, and Ai ni Hashitte.
ReplyDeleteWell, 1976 was a good year in music.
DeleteWhat a golden age in music! I wish I could've seen Momoe Yamaguchi when she was still performing. I'm sad that I just missed Masatoshi Nakamura live.
ReplyDeleteHi, Ezra. Thanks for your comments. It would have been something to see her in the flesh, but for me, it was only always going to be just TV and VCR since I was here in Canada as a young lad. Was Nakamura in your area on tour?
DeleteYup! I could've caught him for his Hong Kong show but I didn't get the news that he was coming until it was over already. Somehow all the shows I'd like to go to are all a week before or after I'm there like Koji Tamaki or Akina. But I couldn't have gone to Momoe Yamaguchi live anyways though since she retired decades before I was born.
DeleteI would have been interested in catching the Atarashii Gakko no Leaders when they were here last year, but those tickets were just way too expensive. There's also a legend here in Toronto that the duo B'z had come for a one-night performance many years ago, but barely half the hall was filled. I don't think the two will ever return. ☹️
