It's been a while since I put up a Kingo Hamada（濱田金吾）song and it's indeed a City Pop Friday night so why not go with one of his upbeat numbers? From his August 1983 album "Mugshot", I bring you "Good Luck City Romance" which means that it shares KKP space with its track mates from the album, the cool and punchy "Rainy Heart" and the mellow "Gatsby Woman".
"Good Luck City Romance" has Hamada as composer and Chinfa Kan（康珍化）as the lyricist. It's also got the punch and strut punctuated with horns that sound as if they were inspired by their brethren from Stevie Wonder's "Sir Duke". Plus of course, the boppy bass and the sax solo are intact as well.
The song does indeed describe what I hope is a very successful date in Tokyo with plenty of dinner and dancing, and perhaps in a reflection of a wonderful night in the big city ending a tad too soon, "Good Luck City Romance" seems to finish off rather abruptly. I would have hoped that it went on for at least another 15 seconds into the 4-minute mark.
