Kome Kome Club -- TELEPHONE

Another work week here in the GTA but this time, the temperatures have plummeted back to normal. It was therefore a bit brisk in just my T-shirt and track pants but nothing that a Canadian couldn't handle.

Let's go with something a little calming to begin the week then. I know that fantastic band Kome Kome Club(米米CLUB)was known more for its flashy upbeat songs backed up by the phenomenal Big Horns Bee, but Carl Smokey Ishii and company did like to chill sometimes as well. From their 10th album from November 1993, "Phi", I give you the track "TELEPHONE".

With a hint of bossa nova in the air, "TELEPHONE", which was created by the band, is an amiable and relaxing pop number which should come with its own hammock and a bit of softshoe. A song about a woman's approach to an incoming landline phone call (yes, it was back in those days) from her ardent boyfriend, the lass is a bit naughty but there's no doubt that she shares the same feelings as her suitor. As for "Phi", it peaked at No. 2 on the Oricon weeklies and finished up 1993 as the 35th-ranked album.
