Tomoko Saito -- Singapore(シンガポール)

If I could afford international air travel again, besides Japan and Lichtenstein, I would love to drop by Singapore. And this time, I wouldn't be consulting with fellow KKP writer Noelle just for information on the early Showa Era kayo kyoku since she's also from Singapore. Of course, being a foodie, I would love to try that famous chicken rice over there.

So my focus on Singapore would be the food and the marvelous architecture. However, for actress and singer Tomoko Saito(斉藤とも子), it looks like love is on her mind with her song "Singapore". Written by Kaoru Asagi(麻木かおる)and composed by Yuuichiro Oda(小田裕一郎), I do love that down-home City Pop with the infusion of bossa nova. It's just the song for drinks at a hotel-top bar in the titular city itself. By the way, "Singapore" was originally a track on her 1981 album "20 ANS".

Another inspiration for me to put up "Singapore" for Saito is that the powers-that-be at YouTube took down the lone video for her "Josei"(女性)song, so I had to put that one into mothballs for now. But at least, I still have her City Pop "Kaze no You ni"(風のように)up and running.

  1. This is rather romantic! It feels almost as if it has a European flavor to it.
