Happy Monday to all! We have another steamy week ahead of us here in the Greater Toronto area. And on top of that, the air quality is gonna suck for a bit while the smoke from forest fires up north invades our local atmosphere.
But we'll make the best of it. Anyways, it's not everyday that I can talk about an EPO song that's not within the 1980s pop or City Pop milieu, so it's great that I was able to stumble upon this January 1998 31st single of hers called "Wonderful Life". Her style has often been very upbeat and snazzy but this time, her creation is arranged through a swing jazz filter, and I think the genre was having a resurgence around that time.
Not surprisingly, "Wonderful Life" was used to adorn a Suntory beer commercial. Nothing like a beer to raise spirits, especially on hot days like these. The song was also on EPO's 16th album, "Soul Kitchen", which was released in March 1998.
Not only does EPO have that classic jazz bar style, it also sounds as if she is ready for Broadway!
ReplyDeleteYeah, come to think of it, she would be good for Broadway! She can project her voice into the rafters.
