Kyary Pamyu Pamyu -- Gum Gum Girl(ガムガムガール)

Well, it's been a good long time since I've put up a Kyary Kyary Pamyu(きゃりーぱみゅぱみゅ)song. I'd say that it's been about 2.5 years and last time it was the Halloween-themed "Crazy Party Night ~ Pumpkin no Gyakushuu"(ぱんぷきんの逆襲).

This time around, there's still a costume party to be had but more along the lines of battle. Initially, I'd thought the video featuring the singer herself in the literal fight of her life was kinda getting into "The Matrix" or "Star Wars". However, "Gum Gum Girl" seems to be about Kyary Pamyu Pamyu embracing her internal Uma Thurman as The Bride from "Kill Bill". Written and composed by Yasutaka Nakata(中田ヤスタカ), it's the usual bouncy KPP synthpop with an Asian touch in the melody.

In fact, I was wondering whether Nakata was inspired a bit by Boney M or Dschinghis Khan (ジンギスカン) in the arrangements. "Gum Gum Girl" is Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's most recent digital single released in January 2021.
