I thought it would be nice to go back and hear some Hiromi Go(郷ひろみ)way before he became the J-Casanova that he has been since the early 80s. He was all of 17 when his 2nd single, "Chiisana Taiken" (A Little Personal Experience) was released in November 1972.
Written by the late Tokiko Iwatani(岩谷時子)and composed by Kyohei Tsutsumi(筒美京平), the teenage aidoru showed a bit more of a snotty side with "Chiisana Taiken", compared to his cheerfully cheeky singing of his debut single, "Otoko no Ko, Onna no Ko"(男の子、女の子). The lyrics have the young (anti-)hero bitterly monologuing about a former girlfriend's life after their relationship and how he vows to wash his hands of her and the past....or so he says. Knowing Go since after he became the devil-may-care Lothario, it's kinda fun to hear this seemingly barely post-pubescent kid whine about his romantic troubles.
Go's single topped off at No. 4 on Oricon and became the 30th-ranked single for 1973. I've put down a karaoke video of the song just so that you can see how kiddy the fellow looked back then and also the guy doing the vocals sounds pretty close to the real McCoy.
