I don't mean to be a meteorologist here on KKP but I have often gotten into the habit of giving the current weather situation in my hometown of Toronto, so just allow me to say that it's been unseasonably warm today. We may be up to about 10 degrees Celsius/50 degrees Fahrenheit this afternoon which may continue into the weekend. As folks who suffer through several months of winter. many of us aren't complaining too much but it would be nice to have a White Christmas (iffy at this point).
Maybe something else out of the ordinary here is singer-songwriter Mieko Nishijima's(西島三重子)"Again". Now I know that the relaxing tones of Ms. Nishijima have been applied to folk and Fashion Music during the 1970s and 1980s, but she has also done some City Pop songs as well such as arguably her most famous example, "Gin Lime"(ジンライム).
And once again, we also have City Pop with some rock stirred in...almost bordering on New Wave just from that intro. But "Again", which is the first track on her June 1983 album "soft-i", also has that downtown samba influence, so we've got quite a potpourri of musical styles mixing all over the place here. Nishijima came up with the melody while Yukio Matsuo(松尾由紀夫)wrote the lyrics. Interesting album overall that I'll have to look into some more.
