J-Canuck's Favourite Five Kanako Wada Songs(和田加奈子)

I've been waiting to give this Author's Pick a go for a while since I've enjoyed the works of Kanako Wada during her time in the late 1980s going into the very early part of the 1990s. To be frank, it didn't start out that way after buying her 1986 debut LP "Tenderness" which I was initially unimpressed with aside from the final track. By the end of her recording career though, I was back in the Wada camp again thanks to rediscovering some of her more hookier stuff after that debut and realizing that she was able to come up with some really catchy fare.

(1986) Feedback

(1987) Natsu no Mirage (夏のミラージュ)

(1989) Dreamin' Lady

(1990) Good Luck Factory

  1. I was surprised and happy to see「夏のミラージュ」on this list! As I think you know, I am a fan of 『きまぐれオレンジ☆ロード』manga and anime. Freedback is probably one of her most refined songs, but Dream’s Lady and Good Luck Factory are up there too in quality and creativity. My Heart is fun and imaginative.

    1. It wasn't until I made my rediscovery of Wada that I realized that she'd had a strong connection with "Kimagure Orange Road". The arrangement of "Feedback" was wonderful...it would have been interesting if she had done a re-recording of it with her improved vocals.

    2. I wonder if there is a live performance of her singing "Feedback" with her improved vocals?
