Tommy heavenly6 -- monochrome rainbow

The story of singer-songwriter Tomoko Kawase(川瀬智子)is going to go down as one of the more interesting ones as I've mentioned in previous articles about her. She's been the vocalist for her band the brilliant green, and then she's gone solo with her persona seemingly splitting into two: the 80s synthpop wonder Tommy february6 and the even more pop/rock Tommy heavenly6. However, the Wikipedia article about Kawase mentions that "...Tommy heavenly6 was born from a dream that Tommy february6 had, in which she embraces all the elements of her personality she had previously been repressing." Calling Dr. Freud!

So perhaps Tommy heavenly6 is really Tommy february6 coming out of her sugar-crystal chrysalis to become more of a pop-punk princess, along the lines of Canada's Avril Lavigne, and one commenter on YouTube made that very comparison. In any case, allow me to introduce her 10th and final single under her heavenly moniker, "monochrome rainbow" from October 2011. Again as I've said many times before, I'm not a huge rock fan but this particular tune is something that I'm attracted to; something about the wall of guitars and heavenly's tender-and-tough vocals. The singer wrote the lyrics while Mark and John took care of the music. Y'know, there's something rather GLAY about how it all sounds, but that might just be me.

Didn't know that "monochrome rainbow" was also the ending theme to the second season of NHK anime "Bakuman"(バクマン。). It scored a No. 23 ranking on the charts. The song also became part of the album featuring February and Heavenly naturally titled "FEBRUARY & HEAVENLY" released in February 2012. It peaked at No. 12.
