His 3rd single which came out in August 1977 is "Enryo Suru na" (Don't Hold Back), a song that is probably as tough and cocky and funky as the roles that Shimizu probably played on TV and movies. With words and music by Ryudo Uzaki(宇崎竜童), it's busy with horns, guitar, and strings as the singer puts up a stonewall front to his soon-to-be-former girlfriend that she doesn't need to hesitate to stick around for his benefit. She's free to go, although what the poor guy is really feeling inside is not all that clear. In any event, the music makes clear that he's not going to show anything close to tears.
It's quite the pugnacious pop song and perhaps with that hint of funk in there, maybe I can also call it a City Pop tune of sorts. However, my biggest impression is how much it sounds like a theme for a Japanese cop show of that time.🚔
