The ever-beaming and vivacious Nana Kinomi(木の実ナナ)is someone that I've usually seen as an actress but she has been represented twice on "Kayo Kyoku Plus". There is her 1982 duet with Hiroshi Itsuki(五木ひろし)with the karaoke favourite, "Izakaya"(居酒屋)and then I put up one of her 1960s singles when she was just a teenager, "Ice Cream Joe"(アイスクリーム・ジョー).
In 1981, she put up a solo single, "Aishite Gomen Nasai" (Sorry for Falling in Love with You) just before the famous "Izakaya", and it's got quite the urban contemporary kayo kick with some good help from her vocals. It does have some of that City Pop-esque rhythm section in there but I'm not quite sure (yet) that it would be considered a song of that genre. The horns are definitely having a blast and the arrangement sounds like it should be adorning the opening credits of some Japanese cop show or maybe even a mecha anime.
That's an interesting point since "Aishite Gomen Nasai" was arranged by Kentaro Haneda(羽田健太郎), the same fellow who was heavily involved in the original "Macross"(マクロス)anime. Kisaburo Suzuki(鈴木キサブロー)can be credited for the original melody while Rei Nakanishi(なかにし礼)provided the lyrics. Incidentally, within those lyrics, Kinomi does mention something about drinking, and as it turns out, "Aishite Gomen Nasai" was used as the commercial campaign song for a brand of Nikka Whiskey that you can see at 13:31 in the above video of various ads for the brand over many years (you can also catch Paul Anka and Orson Welles helping out as well).
Looks like this is my second booze-based kayo in a week. You can have a look at Asei Kobayashi's(小林亜星)"Yoru ga Kuru"(夜が来る).
